Seriously. I am back on the intarwebs in a new and shiny way.

A) Been blogging a lot more on my other site and writing things I think matter
B) Got back into Eve. My mid january, I'll own and be able to fly EVERY caldari ship but the titan, dread, and jump freighter. The dread is the only one I won't be skilled for by march. (long way off from buying it)
C) The side business I started with a friend is starting to kick some ass. Mostly because he's brilliant and a tireless worker. I'm just the hardware nerd... but it's fun anyway.

That's it for now.
Coming soon: Pics of Absolution in combat, Rokh, Golem, Hulk (maybe in combat?), and various HACs!

I sure loves the campaignin'

Ok so Obama's speech last night was amazing. That man is an incredible orator and if I trusted him to stick to his guns I'd be campaigning for him. A truly moving speech and one fitting of his historic nomination. A politician saying that the government needs to do more for the people but the people need to take responsibility for their lives as well. Truly something I've been looking for. A few great quotes:
"Yes, we must provide more ladders to success for young men who fall into lives of crime and despair. But we must also admit that programmes alone can't replace parents; that government can't turn off the television and make a child do her homework; that fathers must take more responsibility for providing the love and guidance their children need."
"So let us agree that patriotism has no party. I love this country, and so do you, and so does John McCain. The men and women who serve in our battlefields may be Democrats and Republicans and independents, but they have fought together and bled together and some died together under the same proud flag. They have not served a Red America or a Blue America - they have served the United States of America."
"It's not because John McCain doesn't care. It's because John McCain doesn't get it.
For over two decades, he's subscribed to that old, discredited Republican philosophy - give more and more to those with the most and hope that prosperity trickles down to everyone else."

McCain promptly went for a semi-historic move of his own and announced that his veep is some hot milf.

Yummy VeepShe's got the naughty librarian thing goin ON... mmm hmm. Way hotter than Bidden for sure. Check out VPILF.com

That being said, I've done some very light digging on her political background and she's a lot of things I can't stand. She claims to be a fiscal conservative (like McCain) and has a record of being incredibly wasteful. Not too pleased with that at all.

I got Habari!

No, There's no cream for it.
I've started using Habari as my blogging software on this site because my brother is on the team creating it. I'm enough of a geek to know my way around most stuff but I've never been on an alpha release of a product. I'm used to getting my hands on a polished or at least presentable piece of software. I'm finding myself torn between being helpful and having useful input and just saying,

WTF??

For instance, It took me at least a minute to put that picture into this post. A minute? yes! In internet terms, that's about 3 years, 6 weeks, 9 days and 7 hours. Worthless. Why? Because, to quote somebody close to the project, "wysiwyg sucks." The back end UI for writing this is slick, pretty, and impressive. But it's also counter-intuitive, somewhat confusing, and a bit too sparse. Apparently there are lots of features that would make my life easier but they're not put out where they can be found unless you know where to look or somebody points them out. I'm getting horrible images of the Windows Vista logo... scary shit.

That being said, it seems straightforward enough and I haven't come across anything that makes me want to trash it. The bad thing is that I also haven't found a single reason to change over to it. I have a blog running on Wordpress and this one on Habari. If somebody said, "Hey Yams, I know you use Habari and Wordpress right, Which do you recommend?" I'd give the thumbs up to Wordpress. In fairness, that's at least in part due to the fact that WP is a mature software with lots of support and plugins and documentation while Habari is just getting off its feet but if their code monkeys don't realize that Form !> Function, it never will.

yay politics!!

Me:
I like- guns. abortion. gay marriage. legal weed. fast cars. porn. freedom. responsibility for yourself. a free-market economy. death penalty.
I don't like- the Feds telling us what to do or how or when. welfare for the able-bodied and capable. Government subsidies and bailouts (mortgage, ethanol, etc). NCLB. Patriot Act. The concept of sacrificing liberty for security. Spending more on other countries than on ours.

Questions:
1- If the Fed and IRS are both illegal (I'm not a lawyer but I've read a lot of shit and actually have gone through the constitution to look for it) why are they still around?
2- How does the Fed get to just create money and why is nobody concerned about what it does to our money when they do it?
3- Obama seems to do whatever is popular. McCain seems to do whatever his old brain can actually remember- which isn't much. Paul is totally ignored by the media and a little bit crazy... ok not a question but seriously... are these guys the best we can get?
4- When we're exporting jobs faster than anything else, why isn't the government moving to protect our country from economic collapse?
5- Am I the only person who wants far fewer laws and far more fitting/more harsh repercussions for violating them?
6- For those of you who are in this camp, How do you justify wanting the death penalty and not abortion?
7- For those of you in this camp, How do you justify wanting the government uninvolved in who you married but involved of what weapons you carry?
8- How can the limitations of the un-patriotic act jive with the same people who said "out of my cold dead hands?"
9- How can people want us out of Iraq but still want us in the UN?
10- WTF???

Zimbabwe is so fucked up it makes America's politics look awesome.
That being said, Dubyah signed for more sanctions against Zimbabwe. First off, Sanctions have been incredibly effective so far, no? no. dumbshit. Second, how the HELL does Bush get off saying things like, "No regime should ignore the will of its own people and calls from the international community without consequences."

Hello, pot? Yeah this is kettle, you're fucking black, dude. Just thought I'd let you know.

Unilateral action against the will of your own constituents? Blatant lies created to get their support? Flagrant nepotism and corruption? Seriously. If we didn't have the constitutional right to bear arms, I wouldn't be surprised to see our own armed forces turned on us.

This is so unbelievably fucked.
